Obverse description Four Chinese ideograms in Regular script (kaishu) arranged in the traditional clockwise reading order around a central square perforation: 慶 (Qing) at top, 曆 (Li) at right, 重 (Zhong) at bottom, and 寶 (Bao) at left, together reading Qingli Zhongbao. The characters are boldly cast in relief within a flat inner field, framed by a raised inner rim surrounding the square hole and a plain raised outer rim. The overall style is characteristic of Northern Song Dynasty imperial cash coinage, with well-formed strokes and clear inter-character spacing.
