| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central square perforation surrounded by four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), arranged in the traditional reading order: top to bottom, right to left. The character 光 (Guang) appears above the hole, 緒 (Xu) below, 重 (Zhong) to the right, and 寶 (Bao) to the left, together forming the reign-era legend 光緒重寶 (Guangxu Zhongbao), identifying the coin as a 'heavy currency' of the Guangxu Emperor. The characters are boldly cast in relief against a plain field, with no additional ornamental border or inner rim beyond the rim of the square hole. |
