| Obverse description | Central field features four large Chinese ideograms arranged in a cruciform pattern reading top to bottom and right to left, with a decorative floral rosette at the centre. The upper and lower margins bear additional Chinese inscriptions denoting the reign title and denomination, while Manchu script flanks the central characters to the left and right. The overall layout is symmetrical and characteristic of late Qing provincial copper cash coinage, with the legend contained within a beaded inner border. |

| Additional information |
Anhwei's machine-struck cash coins of this period emerged from a provincial mint that was, by most accounts, poorly regulated and inconsistently supplied. The absence of an English denomination legend — standard on most contemporaneous provincial issues — places this squarely among the earlier Anhwei types, before the mint had fully standardized its output to imperial specifications. The result is a series with notable die variation and inconsistent planchet quality, both of which are documented under the Y#38b subvarieties.
