| Reverse description | The reverse depicts a confronted dragon and phoenix (龍鳳) design at centre, with the two mythological creatures facing each other amid stylised clouds and floral sprays, rendered in fine relief. Above the central device, the Chinese legend 光緒年造 (Made in the reign of Guangxu) arcs along the upper field within a beaded inner circle. The outer legend TAI-CHING-TI-KUO COPPER COIN is inscribed in Latin romanisation encircling the lower portion of the coin, separated from the central design by a beaded border. The overall composition reflects the standardised imperial coinage design introduced under the late Qing currency reform. |
