Obverse description Central field bears four large Chinese ideograms arranged to be read top to bottom and right to left, flanked by Manchu script characters at centre. An outer ring of Chinese ideograms encircles the central inscription, conveying the province of issue, the reign title Guangxu, the regnal year, and the denomination. The design is rendered in shallow relief against a plain field, consistent with machine-struck provincial cash coinage of the late Qing dynasty.
