Obverse description Central field bears four large Chinese ideograms arranged to be read top to bottom and right to left, flanked by Manchu script characters at centre. An outer ring of Chinese ideograms encircles the central inscription, conveying the province of issue, the reign title Guangxu, the regnal year, and the denomination. The design is rendered in shallow relief against a plain field, consistent with machine-struck provincial cash coinage of the late Qing dynasty.

Reverse description A coiled Imperial Chinese dragon is depicted in high relief at centre, facing left with its body curving around a flaming pearl. The dragon is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The English provincial legend arcs above and below the beaded circle, with small rosette ornaments separating the upper and lower inscriptions. The milled outer rim frames the entire design. The legend reads 'KIANG-SOO' at the top and 'TEN CASH' at the bottom, constituting a mule reverse from Kiangsu Province dies paired with a Kiangnan obverse.
