Obverse description Central field features four Chinese ideograms arranged in a cruciform pattern reading top to bottom and right to left, flanked by Manchu script characters at centre. The entire central motif is encircled by a border of additional Chinese ideograms denoting the issuing province, denomination, reign title, and monetary designation. The inscription collectively reads: Made in Hunan Province, Worth Ten, Guangxu (Emperor), Yuanbao (Original Currency), Boo-nan (Hunan Mint), Copper Currency. The design is rendered within a plain inner border surrounded by the outer legend.
