The Chingkiang (Zhenjiang) Mint operated for a remarkably short window during the late Qing cash copper program, producing this type in 1905 before the mint was folded into the broader provincial consolidation effort that gradually shuttered smaller operations in favor of larger, more centralized facilities. The absence of the decorative flower found on related varieties is a positional detail within the Y#77 series that distinguishes Chingkiang's output from visually similar issues of neighboring provinces.
Zhenjiang's commercial importance as a Yangtze River treaty port made local copper coinage a practical necessity, but the mint's output was never large.
