Obverse description Central device depicts the armorial bearings of the East India Company, featuring two rampant lions as supporters flanking a shield surmounted by a crest with St. George's cross and heraldic flags. A ribbon below bears the motto in Latin: AUSPICIO REGIS ET SENATUS ANGLIÆ. The legend EAST INDIA COMPANY runs along the upper periphery, with an abbreviated authority inscription AUSP : REGIS & SENAT : ANGLIÆ arcing below, and the date appears in the exergue. The coin is bordered by a denticulated rim.

Reverse description The reverse field is dominated by a three-line Persian Nasta'liq inscription stating the denomination and its equivalence in falus, occupying the upper portion of the design. A horizontal line divides the field, below which the denomination X. CASH. is inscribed in Roman letters within a recessed panel. The entire design is contained within a beaded border encircling the full periphery of the coin.
