| Obverse description | Central field bears four large Chinese characters reading 'Guang Xu Yuan Bao' (Guangxu Imperial Treasure), arranged in cruciform fashion within an inner beaded circle. The Manchu mint name 'Boo-An' (An-hwei Mint) appears flanking the central characters at centre. The outer legend, running around the periphery between the beaded border and the rim, reads in Chinese '安徽省造' (Made in Anhwei Province) at the top and '當制錢十文' (Equal to ten cash) at the bottom, with six-pointed rosette ornaments separating the inscriptions at the sides. The overall design is executed in a bold, high-relief incuse style typical of late Qing provincial copper cash coinage. |
