Aanvullende informatie

North Yemen's coinage in this period was minted under the Mutawakkilite Kingdom, but this 1963 issue arrived at a historically volatile moment — the September 1962 revolution had just overthrown Imam Muhammad al-Badr, plunging the country into a civil war that would last until 1970. Coins bearing older royal types continued to circulate alongside republican issues for years, making attribution of well-worn pieces genuinely ambiguous in the field.

The .720 silver specification follows the fineness Yemen had used since earlier Hamid ad-Din dynasty issues, a deliberate continuity that helped maintain acceptance in tribal regions skeptical of the new republic.
