Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a left-facing portrait bust of Simón Bolívar in the Barre style, set against a background of diagonal lines evoking the three bands of the Venezuelan tricolor flag. An arc of eight stars, representing the eight stars of the national flag, frames the upper field above the portrait. The legend 'BOLÍVAR LIBERTADOR' curves along the upper periphery, and the mint mark of the Casa de la Moneda de Venezuela appears in the field.

Aanvullende informatie

By 2016, Venezuela's inflation rate had already crossed 250% annually — the 10 bolívar coin was effectively worthless before it left the mint. The Banco Central de Venezuela continued issuing lower-denomination coinage through sheer institutional inertia even as the parallel exchange rate made the entire series economically absurd. Within two years, the government would lop six zeros off the currency in a redenomination that rendered this issue obsolete by decree.
