The Banco Central de Venezuela was only established in 1940, and this series — printed by ABNC through a period spanning two decades — reflects the institution's early effort to consolidate note issuance that had previously been split among private commercial banks. Venezuela's oil revenues were already transforming the economy during these years, yet the central bank relied on foreign printing throughout, never developing domestic production capacity for its primary circulating notes.
