Obverse description The obverse is laid out in a letterpress typographic style with the issuer's name ESTADO GUAYANA in bold arch across the upper portion, flanked by the numeral 10 in each upper corner. The left side bears a coat of arms vignette with crossed cannons and a rising sun, while the central text panel states the note's value in words — DIEZ BOLIVARES — with a handwritten manuscript text below noting amortization against ordinary Treasury revenues, dated Ciudad Bolívar, December 31, 1879. Two manuscript signatures appear at the foot, attributed to EL PRESIDENTE and EL TESORERO respectively, with the equivalent value VALE 2 VENEZOLANOS printed vertically on both lateral margins.

Reverse description The reverse is printed on plain paper with a fine guilloche underprint pattern across the entire surface, heavily worn and aged to a uniform ochre-tan tone. The central area carries a faint oval guilloche vignette with the numeral 10 repeated on either side, and a faint text band running horizontally through the centre. Corner numerals 10 are discernible in each quadrant against the background lattice underprint.
