Issued to mark the 120th anniversary of Thai teacher education, tracing the founding of the first teacher training school in Thailand to 1872 under King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), who modeled early Thai public education partly on European systems encountered during his diplomatic outreach. The commemorative program under Rama IX was prolific — dozens of similar bimetallic and copper-nickel issues appeared throughout the 1980s and 1990s, which keeps secondary market premiums modest despite the specific subject matter.
