A bilingual legend surrounds the design: Thai text to the left reading the anniversary inscription with the Thai calendar date ๑๒ สิงหาคม ๒๕๒๕, and an English legend to the right reading '50th BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY OF H.M. Issued to mark the 50th birthday of Queen Sirikit on August 12, 1982, this commemorative was released during a period when the Thai monarchy used coinage aggressively as a vehicle for royal milestone observances. Sirikit had by this point become one of the most publicly active consorts in Thai history, particularly through her SUPPORT Foundation, established in 1976 to preserve traditional Thai handicrafts.
Y#154 is common in high grades, having been widely saved by the Thai public at issue rather than spent.
