Issued to mark the centennial of the Royal Thai Army Medical Department, founded in 1900 under Rama V as part of a broader modernization of Thai military infrastructure along Western lines. The commemorative 10 Baht bimetallic format had become the Royal Thai Mint's standard vehicle for institutional anniversaries by this point, resulting in a crowded series that dilutes the individual significance of any single issue. Surviving examples almost universally come from mint sets — circulation was negligible.
