Issued to mark the inauguration of Thailand's new parliament building in 1992, this coin appeared during one of the country's most turbulent political years. Just months after the building's dedication, the military crackdown known as Black May left dozens dead in Bangkok streets, and the government that oversaw the commemorative issue had collapsed by year's end.
