10 Baht - Rama IX Anti-Drug Campaign

Issued to mark the Thai government's 2003 narcotics suppression campaign, which was one of the most controversial anti-drug initiatives in modern Southeast Asian history. In the first three months alone, over 2,800 people died in circumstances the government attributed to drug dealer conflicts, though human rights organizations documented widespread extrajudicial killings. The campaign was driven personally by Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and remains fiercely debated.

Commemorative 10 Baht bimetallics of this era saw limited secondary-market circulation, most absorbed by collectors at point of issue.
