Obverse description Central field features the coat of arms of Portuguese Macau (1935–1999), depicting a quartered shield bearing the Portuguese quinas and the dragon of Macau, surmounted by a mural crown, all superimposed on an armillary sphere. Four six-pointed stars flank the shield, two at left and two at right. The Latin legend MACAU arcs across the upper field, while the Chinese characters 門 (left) and 澳 (right) appear flanking the central device at mid-field. The date 1952 is inscribed along the lower arc. A beaded border runs along the entire rim.
