| Beschrijving voorzijde | The Portuguese republican coat of arms, featuring the quinas (five escutcheons arranged in a cross) over a vertically striped field, is depicted prominently in the center of the coin against a mirror-polished field. The legend REPÚBLICA PORTUGUESA arcs along the upper periphery, while MACAU appears along the right side, the two inscriptions separated by five-pointed stars at each flank. The date 1982 is inscribed in the lower exergue below the shield. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
This piece belongs to a limited gold proof series issued by Macau in the early 1980s, when the territory was still under Portuguese administration — a status not resolved until the 1999 handover to China. The series was aimed squarely at the collector market rather than circulation, which explains the gold composition for a denomination whose everyday counterpart was struck in brass.
KM#20 is scarce in absolute terms; the mintage figures for this issue were never large.
