This miniature gold piece belongs to Rwanda's long-running series of devotional issues aimed squarely at the Catholic collector market. John Paul II, born Karol Wojtyła in 1920, was canonized in April 2014 — making centenary-year issues like this one straightforwardly commercial rather than commemorative in any strict sense.
