Rwanda has become a prolific issuer of themed collector coinage through licensing arrangements with the European Coin Program and similar distributors, which is the actual origin of this piece — not any domestic commemoration. The 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 generated a wave of numismatic releases across dozens of issuing authorities in 2019, most with no geographic connection to the event whatsoever.
At 0.155 g, this sits in the fractional miniature gold category pioneered partly by the Cook Islands and Palau programs in the 2010s.
