Additional information

Rwanda's "Libertad" gold issues occupy an odd niche — a landlocked central African nation producing fine gold coins that reference a Mexican bullion series by name, marketed almost entirely to European and Asian collector markets. The 0.155 g format exists to hit a sub-$10 retail price point at spot, a deliberate commercial calculation that has nothing to do with Rwandan monetary history.

KM#130 was issued under Rwanda's broad private mint licensing arrangements, which have made the BNR one of the more prolific issuers of novelty bullion in the 2010s.
