Opmerkingen

Afghanistan's Ministry of Finance, rather than a central bank, issued this series directly — the Da Afghanistan Bank wasn't established until 1939. That institutional gap explains why these 1936 notes carry a ministry imprint rather than a banking authority, a distinction that confuses cataloguers who work backward from the later bank series.

Orell Füssli's involvement is worth noting. The Zurich firm had been printing security documents since the sixteenth century and was a preferred contractor for smaller sovereign states without domestic printing capacity. Afghanistan used them for several interwar issues before eventually developing local facilities.

The watermark is the sole security feature — no serial number threading, no chemical sensitization known on this type.
