Aegae was one of several small Aeolian cities on the western coast of Asia Minor that maintained civic coinage despite operating in the shadow of larger regional powers — first Persian, then Macedonian, then Seleucid. The city's bronze issues of this period are modest in weight and largely unattributed to specific magistrates, making precise dating within the century difficult. SNG Copenhagen 4 remains the standard reference point, though the type appears across multiple collections without consensus on chronological sequence.
