The date 1989 is divided by the eagle's talons, with '19' to the left and '89' to the right. The circular legend 'POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA' arcs around the upper periphery, while the denomination '10000' with flanking 'ZŁ' monograms appears prominently in the lower field. | Descrizione del rovescio | A three-quarter length figure of Pope John Paul II, vested in full pontifical robes and mitre, is depicted in right-facing profile, holding a papal ferula (pastoral staff) in both hands. The figure is set against a bold Latin cross that fills the entire field, with a six-pointed star motif visible in the upper right quadrant of the cross. The inscription 'JAN PAWEŁ II' is divided across the horizontal arm of the cross, with 'JAN' to the left and 'PAWEŁ II' to the right. The trial designation 'PRÓBA' appears in a recessed rectangular cartouche at the lower right, and the engraver's monogram 'E' is incuse at the base of the cross. The composition was engraved by Ewa Tyc-Karpińska. |
