By 1947, the Central Bank of China was printing notes at denominations that would have been unthinkable five years earlier. The 10,000 Yuan note entered circulation as hyperinflation — driven by wartime deficit spending and continued military costs after Japan's surrender — was already accelerating beyond any credible monetary management. Within a year, the government would issue 500,000 Yuan notes.
The Printing Works struggled to keep pace with demand. Paper quality and ink registration on this series are notably inconsistent between production runs, a direct consequence of overstretched facilities.
