Issued for the 10th Asian Games held in Seoul in 1986, this coin was part of South Korea's broader strategy of numismatic promotion ahead of the 1988 Seoul Olympics — the Games functioned as a rehearsal, both logistically and in terms of the commemorative coin programs the Bank of Korea was learning to execute at scale for an international audience.
