Obverse description Central vignette presents a formal portrait of King Sejong the Great (1397–1450), fourth monarch of the Joseon Dynasty (r. 1418–1450) and creator of the Korean Hangeul script, set against a finely worked guilloche underprint. The denomination and issuing authority appear in Hangul characters, with decorative borders framing the composition on all sides. The overall design is executed in deep intaglio, lending tactile relief to the principal elements.
