The "Vasilyok" (cornflower) series was issued by the National Bank of Belarus as part of a broader commemorative program celebrating native flora. These copper circulation-strike commemoratives occupy an odd category in Belarusian numismatics — neither bullion nor true collector coins, they were nominally legal tender at face value while being priced well above it at point of sale, a tension the National Bank never quite resolved.
