| Obverse description | The obverse presents a portrait of Ivan Cankar, the prominent Slovenian writer, at right, rendered in intaglio against a multicolour guilloche underprint of ochre, violet, and red geometric panels. The issuer inscription BANKA SLOVENIJE runs vertically along the left margin, while the denomination numeral 10000 appears in large characters at lower centre, accompanied by the legend DESET TISOČ TOLARJEV. Architectural and typographic vignette elements referencing Cankar's literary work are incorporated into the central background design. |

The 10,000 tolar was the highest denomination in Slovenian circulation before the country adopted the euro on 1 January 2007, at which point all tolar notes were withdrawn. This particular 2003-dated issue was the final substantive print run of the series, and the note's practical lifespan was consequently short — barely four years from printing to demonetization.
Giesecke & Devrient had handled Slovenian banknote production throughout the tolar period, a relationship that began when Slovenia first issued its own currency following independence from Yugoslavia in 1991.
