Obverse description The obverse features the state emblem of Mongolia — the soyombo symbol surmounting a stylized shield — displayed within an ornate cartouche at the upper centre of the field, accompanied by a decorative laurel wreath below. The legend 'Монгол Банк' (Bank of Mongolia) in Cyrillic script is inscribed in cursive style across the centre of the emblem, flanked on either side by vertical inscriptions in the traditional Mongolian script. The denomination '10000 TUGRIG' is boldly rendered in large numerals and Latin lettering in the lower centre of the field. Along the lower arc, the inscriptions 'MONGOLIA', '1 KG', '999 SILVER', and '1996' are incused in Latin characters, attesting to the coin's metal content and weight. The coin's outer border is decorated with a sawtooth pattern.

Reverse description The reverse depicts a Przewalski's wild horse (Equus ferus) rendered in full polychrome colour, shown in dynamic full gallop facing left across a stylised rocky steppe landscape executed in relief against the mirror-polished field. The horse's chestnut coat, flowing mane, and muscular form are rendered in naturalistic detail using applied colour over the silver surface. The Latin legend 'EQUUS FERUS' is inscribed along the upper right arc of the field in incuse lettering. The date '1996' appears in the lower exergue in large serif numerals. The outer border is finished with a sawtooth pattern consistent with the obverse.
