Descrizione del dritto Central vignette comprises a portrait of Chinggis Khaan (born Temüjin, c. 1162–1227), founder of the Mongol Empire, accompanied by a Paiza (Gerege) — a rectangular tablet of authority issued to Mongol officials and envoys conferring the right to requisition goods and services from the civilian populace. The National Coat of Arms of Mongolia appears on the obverse, set against fine guilloche underprint work. Denominations in both Western numerals and traditional Mongolian script are inscribed alongside the issuing authority legends.

Descrizione del rovescio The central vignette presents an intaglio-engraved panoramic view of the inner square of the ancient walled city of Kharkhorin (Karakorum), the former imperial capital of the Mongol Empire, with figures populating the courtyard and traditional architectural structures rendered in fine line engraving. To the left, a tall ornamental panel contains a circular soyombo-derived guilloche rosette in gold and grey tones with the vertical Cyrillic inscription МОНГОЛБАНК. The denomination 10000 appears in large numerals at lower left in red and at the right margin in grey on a dark lattice underprint, with МОНГОЛ УЛС in bold Cyrillic across the upper register and ТӨГРӨГ along the lower border. The date 2002 is printed in the lower-left corner.

Mongolia's highest-denomination note for much of the 2000s, the 10,000 Tögrög was introduced as the economy recovered from the severe contraction of the 1990s, when GDP collapsed following the abrupt end of Soviet subsidy transfers. The print run of just over 20 million across a twelve-year span is modest for a high-denomination note expected to absorb the transaction demand of a growing economy — partly because lower-denomination notes continued handling most retail exchange, and partly because Mongolbank kept issuing revised dates rather than wholly new series.

Security specification on this series is relatively light for its face value: watermark and a single security thread, with no color-shifting ink or microprinting noted for the type.
