Obverse description The Indonesian national emblem, the Garuda Pancasila, is depicted prominently in the center of the field — a stylized eagle with wings spread wide, bearing a heraldic shield on its chest divided into five sections symbolizing the Pancasila state philosophy. A scroll at the base of the Garuda carries the national motto 'BHINNEKA TUNGGAL IKA' (Unity in Diversity). The curved legend 'BANK INDONESIA' arcs along the upper periphery, with the date '1990' inscribed centrally below the legend, above the Garuda's head. The mirrored proof field provides a sharp contrast to the finely detailed device.

Additional information

Issued as part of Indonesia's participation in the global UNICEF-aligned "Save the Children" commemorative program, this coin was struck in a limited proof edition and had no circulation role whatsoever. Bank Indonesia produced several such silver issues through the late 1980s and early 1990s primarily for the international collector market, with proceeds nominally directed toward children's welfare initiatives.

The .925 silver specification follows the standard adopted across most participating nations in the program, allowing uniform production contracts with established mints.
