The Federation of Socialist Soviet Republics of Transcaucasia was a short-lived political union of Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, formally constituted in March 1922 and absorbed into the USSR by the end of 1922. These notes were issued during that transitional limbo — after the federation's political subordination was effectively settled but before the monetary architecture of the new union had fully replaced regional issuance.
