| Obverse description | The crowned Portuguese royal arms occupy the central field, displaying the quinas (five escutcheons each bearing five roundels in saltire) arranged in a cross pattern within a shield surmounted by an elaborate royal crown. Five cinquefoils are disposed vertically along the right side of the field, flanking the shield. The denomination numeral 10000 appears divided, with the figure '1' to the lower left of the shield and '0000' to its right. A circular legend in Latin runs along the periphery, separated from the field by a bold inner border of dots. |
