| 背面描述 | Printed entirely in light-red, the reverse is composed of an intricate guilloche lattice filling the entire field, enclosed within multiple ornamental borders of geometric and scroll motifs. A central oval cartouche, surrounded by a fine engine-turned lathe-work frame, carries the denomination and gold-payment reference, with the bank name set in letterpress horizontally across the mid-section. |

| 备注 |
Banco de Portugal had only established its own in-house printing works — the Estamparia — in the early 1870s, and this series represents some of its earliest ambitious production at that facility. Bringing note printing in-house was a deliberate response to the costs and logistical dependencies of contracting foreign printers, a move made as the Bank consolidated its position as sole issuer following the 1846 unification of Portuguese note-issuing privileges.
The 10,000 Réis denomination placed this firmly in commercial and institutional hands — a sum far beyond everyday wages in late nineteenth-century Lisbon. Retail circulation was never the point.
