| Aanvullende informatie |
Policarpa Salavarrieta — known universally in Colombia as "La Pola" — was a seamstress and spy for the independence movement who was executed by Spanish royalist forces in Bogotá on November 14, 1817, at around 22 years of age. Her last words, shouted at the firing squad, became legendary in the independence narrative. Colombia has honored her on currency repeatedly across different eras, making her one of the most persistently commemorated figures in the country's monetary history.
The 10,000 peso denomination is the highest-value circulating coin in the Colombian series launched in 2012.
