Issued to mark the restoration of Philippine democracy following the fall of Ferdinand Marcos in 1986, this coin was part of a broader commemorative program authorized under the Corazon Aquino administration. The six-year gap between the People Power Revolution and this 1992 striking reflects the chaotic monetary and institutional rebuilding the Bangko Sentral underwent during Aquino's term, a period that included seven coup attempts against her government.
