Chile's 10,000 peso note has been the highest denomination in general circulation for decades, a fact that says something pointed about the peso's long-term purchasing power erosion since the 1975 monetary reform. The Casa de Moneda de Chile, which handles both coin and note production for the republic, printed this series entirely domestically — unusual for a denomination of this value in a country that previously contracted offshore printers for its higher notes.
The P#164 series ran through a long production window, with subtle year-on-year plate variations that collectors occasionally track but that carry no significant premium differences.
