| Opmerkingen |
Turkmenistan's 1998 high-denomination notes were issued during a period of severe monetary instability following independence, when chronic inflation had rendered smaller denominations effectively worthless for any transaction of consequence. The 10,000 Manat was among the largest face values in the first-generation manat series before the 2009 redenomination wiped out three zeros and replaced the entire currency with the second manat at a rate of 5,000 old manat to one new.
Security was minimal for a note of this value — a single watermark, no metallic thread, no UV-reactive inks recorded for this issue.
