Opmerkingen

The 10,000 Lire denomination was the highest-value circulating note in Italy for most of this series' lifespan — a significant sum in the 1960s, when average industrial wages were still measured in hundreds of lire per day. The long print run spanning over a decade reflects steady demand rather than any single monetary event, though Italy's postwar economic boom drove chronic upward pressure on the need for high-denomination paper.

Printed entirely in-house by the Banca d'Italia's own Rome facility, with engraving split between Baiardi on the obverse and Cionini on the reverse — an uncommon division of labor that occasionally produces subtle tonal inconsistencies between the two faces when examined under raking light.
