| 背面描述 | A schematic outline map of Europe fills the central and upper field, with a ring of six-pointed stars along the left periphery symbolising the European Union. In the lower left, the Gothic facade of the Palazzo Pubblico in San Marino is depicted in relief alongside a statue on a pedestal in the foreground. The bold inscription EURO is prominently displayed to the right of centre, and the denomination 10000 LIRE appears in the lower exergue. The engravers' signatures B. KREEB and FRAPICCINI INC. are inscribed to the lower right, with the circular legend SAN MARINO GUARDA ALL'EUROPA along the upper rim. |

San Marino's pre-euro silver commemoratives from the mid-1990s were issued partly as a revenue mechanism — the republic's tiny domestic economy had long relied on philatelic and numismatic sales as a meaningful income stream, a fiscal arrangement formalized through its agreements with Italy. This 1996 issue appeared as the eurozone transition was being negotiated, making it among the last cohort of lire-denominated pieces before the currency was rendered obsolete by the 2002 changeover.
