| Obverse description | The four legendary guardian spirits of Iceland, known as the Landvættir, are depicted in bold relief occupying the four quadrants of the field: Griðungur the bull in the lower left, Gammur the eagle in the upper left, Dreki the dragon in the upper right, and Bergrisi the giant in the lower right. The design is rendered in a stylized, heraldic manner reminiscent of Iceland's coat of arms tradition. The circular legend around the periphery reads '10000 TÍU ÞÚSUND KRÓNUR ÍSLAND', identifying the denomination and issuer. |
