| Opmerkingen |
The Kriegsdarlehenskasse was established in August 1914 specifically to inject liquidity into the Austro-Hungarian economy as commercial credit froze at the outbreak of war. It was not a conventional bank of issue — it functioned as a state-backed lending institution that accepted securities and government bonds as collateral, then issued its own notes against them. The 10,000 Kronen denomination was far beyond the reach of ordinary transactions and was almost certainly used for large-scale interbank settlement or government procurement rather than retail circulation.
Pick 28 is among the rarer of the Kriegsdarlehenskasse issues, partly because high-denomination wartime instruments were subject to strict recall and accounting procedures.
