Obverse description The national arms of Chad — a detailed shield supported by a goat and a lion, surmounted by a radiant sun — occupies the upper field, with the curved legend REPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD arching above. Beneath the arms, a prominent dotted-border Cross of Lorraine is displayed in the centre of the field, flanked by a decorative pattern of crescent and wave motifs symbolising national unity. A broken chain motif runs horizontally across the lower field, evoking independence and liberation. The denomination 10.000 FRANCS appears in large letters along the lower rim, with the word ESSAI inscribed in the exergue below.
