Chad's name appears on this piece purely as a licensing arrangement — the country issues no meaningful domestic coinage and functions here as a permissive authority for a European bullion and novelty producer. The Van Gogh Irises painting depicted belongs to the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, acquired in 1990 for $53.9 million after one of the most publicized auction controversies of the decade, when the original 1987 sale to Alan Bond was later revealed to have been financed by the auction house itself, violating Sotheby's own policies.
