Reverse description The reverse presents a highly detailed, deeply struck panoramic composition depicting the three Pyramids of Giza dominating the central field, their summits and flanks highlighted with selective gold gilding. The weathered effigy of the Great Sphinx of Giza is rendered in bold relief in the lower left foreground, partially emerging from desert sands. A flight of birds, gilded in gold, soars through the upper right field against a textured sky, while additional architectural elements and stone coursework are visible to the right. The overall design is executed in antique finish, enhancing the sculptural depth and archaeological atmosphere of the scene.

Additional information

Chad has issued commemorative silver under the Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale framework for decades, but the country has no historical or geographic connection to the subjects it licenses — the Pyramid series is a purely commercial product sold through European and Asian distributors to the collector market, never intended for circulation. The CFA franc denomination printed on these pieces is nominal; no one has ever spent one on groceries in N'Djamena.
