Benin issues coinage through the BCEAO framework as a member of the West African Economic and Monetary Union, meaning it shares the CFA franc with seven other nations and has no independent monetary policy — making these large-format collector pieces essentially the only coins that bear the Beninese name at all. The BCEAO retains sole authority over circulating coinage, so Benin's numismatic output is entirely a licensing arrangement with private minting houses targeting the collector market.
KM#190 is a one-kilo silver issue from that program. No circulating pedigree, no historical monetary function.
